Alcohol
Early 1800s | Alcohol consumption was 7 gallons of alcohol per year per drinker.
1900 to 1915 | Americans drank (2 gallons per year) the equivalent of 13 standard drinks per week.
1920 to 1933 | Prohibition years, alcohol consumption fell by 30%.
1933 | Prohibition was repealed. Americans were drinking 70% more than in pre-prohibition years.
2018 | Americans consumed 6.3 billion gallons of beer (our favorite alcoholic beverage) , about 26.2 gallons per adult over 21 years of age.
2020 | Alcohol consumption 2.3 gallons per year.
