Hundreds of thousands nationwide are protesting the military coup in Burma. Historically, the armed forces has a record of brutality. They have no problem violently putting down street protesters.
The authoritarian power in Myanmar will continue on until international sanctions put so much economic pressure that the regime will have no other option but capitulate.
Lastly, the generals have the guns and bullets, but a sharp rise in the amount of public opposition can possibly overwhelm Myanmar’s regime.
