Without ever abandoning the figure, I perform an operation of revelation of reality hidden “beyond” the visible, implementing a process of distortion, gurling of the body that transcends reality to send beyond itself, recovering the eternal, that is, a dimension “Other”, starting from the ephemeral. I dig under the surface of things, opening the way to hidden worlds. As Merleau-Ponty argues “… it is visibility itself that leads to non-visibility, which is what is defined as “the invisible of the visible”.

Transparencies, reflections, lights and shadows, games of color, are all fundamental elements in my work, united with the figures of painted hybrid are protagonists of distortions, cancellations and splits to show what is not seen, but which exists even if inconsistent. Layers of swirling brush strokes, transparencies and aqueous glazes characterize the acrylic paints. Bright colors that seduce the gaze, mostly skeletal and hollow figures hover over pulsating surfaces, playing a part as actors in the theater. Graphs and wax marks sometimes concatenate the elements with each other, accentuating and directing the movements of the subjects represented. Dreamlike, disturbing and enigmatic worlds. The body, placed in a condition of functional disturbance, is the fulcrum of the search and portal to the dreamlike, the memory and the unconscious. The images of my imagination take action from one dimension to another – from the Invisible to the Visible.

Every piece of art, crafts, or textiles, hanging on my walls or ceiling tells a tiny passage of my life. Most of it was acquired during my travels. Many of these treasures are damaged whether because they were broken on arrival, as the pieces were tightly stuffed into my backpack, or weathered by the unforgiving Florida tropical humidity. But in the end, they are my precious processions and they are part of the stories I tell. It feels good to have rugs hanging from the ceiling, masks on the walls, and drinking my morning coffee thinking of the mugs’ tale. The point here is that art has a lot to offer each one of us; ART IS VERY PERSONAL!
