Written by J H Martin @ A Coat for a Monkey

Wooden bench

White tiles

A desk

A uniform

I lean forward

I rock back

With the weight of memory

I don’t think I want to

Get out of this place

The bright light

The heavy silence

The shake of the head

It is all too familiar

I have to teach myself

How to live again

From Yankin

To Botataung

These walls of time

They imprison the present

Their questions

Cuff and choke

Looking up

I have no comment for them

This door

Has always been open

I am free to go
