Poem From Three Steps

Poetry Book Written by J H Martin

VIII

The song from a bird

The splash from a pond

The cherry tree

Has grown too much

This year

Sun rain sun rain

Who would have thought

That this would find us

Still here

Sitting smoking

Thinking smoking

What can I do?

What have I done?

To do nothing

To sail a dream

To climb through the clouds

Having no plan at all

Would be best plan to make

For all of this

And for all that is not

I think

I know

I matter little

Some leaves are now brown

Some have already fallen

Three Steps
Poems by J H Martin
Available in print and digital formats.

Three Steps is a new collection of poems by J H Martin, chronicling his return to Europe, after over a decade in South East Asia, his withdrawal from prescription drugs and alcohol, and his ongoing recovery through the pandemic. Honest, direct, and, at times, unsettling, the poems in Three Steps track back and forth between the personal and the universal, as the writer addresses his past, his present, and the many challenges, which we all face, when it comes to trying to understand the true nature of our selves, and the ever-changing world around us.

J H Martin is from London, England, but has no fixed abode. His writing has appeared in a number of places in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
