Written by George Gad Economou
nothing worse than getting startled by
a cockroach when you drunkenly shuffle to
the bathroom to piss.
in flophouses and shooting galleries, I expected them
to be there, didn’t pay them too much
attention (unless they decided to crawl over me).
now, in a better house, cleaner, they come during the summer
without belonging. they probably know it
too, hiding in corners, away
from prying eyes, heavy shoes, and lethal sprays.
