Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, I’ve been exploring an alternative form of photography involving the use of a flatbed scanner rather than a traditional camera to make digital still life images of botanical subjects. My scanography work has been an excellent way to continue my creative efforts as I practiced self-isolation during the pandemic. Inspired by the old botanical illustrations and formal floral still life paintings of a bygone era, my still life series of photographs is meant to be a celebration of the beauty and grace still to be found in the world during these troubled times.
