Seasonal flags flop
in turn with the breezes
by the meandering river
I open the blinds
and it’s a safe bet
that they are worth raising
For as the heavens fold
I feel the whole impact of the wind
against the big slick that is my hair
Am I suited
to live in a full house
or sail on a full boat?
I give up being straight-laced
as my skin feels the flush of anxiety
I dress like a royal
in skinny jeans and a pair
of white high top sneakers
In the midst
of a mid-life crisis
I yearn for the muscles of Wayne Gretzky walking like I have rockets in my pocket
My options are open ended
as I ride shotgun
on a tilting Kawasaki bike
Inclined to bluff
as the muck that surrounds me
drags my body all-in
I dig with a spade
to find the diamonds
within this club
where I left my heart
I am three of a kind…
or am I four of a kind?
Is serenity in the cards?
Do I hold power in my hands?
Will I answer the call of the wild?
