At first, my reasoning aimed at modestly contributing to denounce the overwhelming male domination in our societies. This curse, as old as the hills, comes along with its inherent social constructions.
But when meeting the person I wanted to work with on this project on a fictional mode, it soon appeared that our work would eventually be centred on the consequences of sexual abuse.
These traumas are indeed important, they often generate enduring, more or less severe troubles, which can sometimes even lead to suicide.
Thus, this photographic work highlights the consequences of sexual abuse for those who survived this trauma, and offers ways to find a new form of balance, hope and joie de vivre.
I started this work before all the recent revelations on this topic started to come out.
Among the frequent symptoms (non exhaustive here) we can name shame, guilt, withdrawal into oneself, dissociative reactions, flashbacks, memory, sexual or eating disorders, addiction, self-destructive behaviours, suicidal tendencies, nervous breakdown…
To get rid of these traumas, one can hardly go without revealing, registering complaint, undergoing therapy, in order to find peace and live fulfilling relationships.

The recovery, after these sorts of abuse, is the most important part, and, the photos you posted, offered that sense of, hopfulness, that light that’s still there in the, darkness, shining, through.
