I know you won’t see this letter
because you’re off somewhere trying to get better…
I hope you know you haven’t faded behind your demons’
shadows and that someone unconditionally loves you.
I heard our song today, and was stung by jagged memories poisoned with
nostalgia,
I could taste your name in the corner of my cracked lips
and the spaces between my fingers have eroded down to valleys kissed by droughts—
Thirsty for your ghostlike touch.
I’m still drifting away into the unknown space—
And all the whiskey and cigarettes can’t fill your place,
Instead, I see your stunning face in clouds of smoke
floating away with every breath—I’m not so sure
I have those many left.
You are the masterpiece of life’s fucked up puzzle
and I must admit, I’ve never met
anyone who could make dying look so beautiful.
