Written by Algo
When we lived underground
And ate scrap metal.
When we lived by the sound
Of empty vessels.
Waiting for the train
You lay on the tracks
You didn’t move a muscle
Though the ropes were slack.
Blinded by daylight
That comes round the bend
And punctuates night
With a full stop, an end.
When we huddled in highness
And could inherit the earth
When we were exiled by shyness
And the meek owned all hurt.
Darkness levitates life
Above a mattress and pillow
And let’s out fallen cries
As it grieves for the shadows.
