Koi in Motion An ever-curious person; I love what is just around the corner, the unusual, the mysterious, and the colorful. Even everyday objects and scenes can always be viewed differently. Photography means capturing an image in my own personal way, I’m not just taking an image, I am creating my impression of that image and in doing so, I am telling a story that hopefully the viewer can relate to. As Ansel Adams once said, "You don't take a photograph, you make it.” The Koi at the Japanese Garden in Portland provide the inspiration for this series: I wanted to go beyond just a straight representation and convey the movement and color of the fish as they swim and interact. I used long exposures without a tripod to intentionally blur the movement resulting in a more abstract look.
