This series is of macro images within a deer’s skull, found buried in the backyard: abstracts in that their impression on the viewer is unrelated to their source, transformation by changing context.

Gerard Blair was raised in the North of England and has lived in the South, in Scotland, Israel, Japan and latterly in the United States. Professionally, he was a Microchip designer and is pleased to note that in 1986 he wrote the first drafts of a funding proposal for his Professor for early research into CMOS digital cameras – although this hardly helps him make better photographs. Now retired, he is able to devote time to learning about the history of painting, and to explore the creation of his own art using the camera.

His goal in photography is to discover ineffable joys, to capture pleasures which might otherwise have passed unseen.
