Written by Jay-lyn Doerksen
I stalk
unseen
sifting through the shadows
stilettos clacking
watching
calculating
patience
never my strong suit
yet
here I am;
waiting
salivating
forked tongue
slithers over wined lips
tasting fear tinged air.
Bemused smile
eyes glitter in the darkness
he skitters ahead
fearful
he glances back.
Does he know
that I am coming?
That I have waited?
My rancor
sulfuric stench
acrid in the air
twisted giggles rise
echoing
he thinks to escape me
he thinks he can flee.
But this is your destiny
don’t you see?
