Artist statement: Vedran Sminderovac was born in 1985 in Zagreb, Croatia, where he lives today. A lawyer by profession, with an affinity for photography. Interest for photography appeared shyly through childhood, although he did not fully understand these light stimuli until the occurrence of digital cameras. After a few years of experimenting with various genres and equipment, he found himself in street photography. Vedran loves street photography because it is strange and unrepeatable, from subjects to backdrops. Vedran singles out Henri Cartier-Bresson and Elliott Erwitt as role models. Their photographs have the aesthetic and sensibility that he aspires to, one could say – a humanistic approach in the urban world. He has been a member of Photo club Zagreb since 2021. So far he exhibited at 5 independent exhibitions and numerous joint exhibitions.
