I down an Irish Coffee all too soon
Kicking back on a Sunday afternoon
In the Maldron Hotel, across the street
Where a San Franciscan couple I happen to meet.
Cruising through their Golden Years
They tell me of their travels & I’m all ears
Ireland isn’t like what they have seen
In Hollywood, on the Silver Screen.
Exit the couple, I sit back & sigh
Quietly watching the world go by
One thing’s for sure, there is whiskey in the jar
And the bar’s across the road, I don’t have to go far.
