Across a shifting yellow sea
of early golden wheat,
the sunlight shimmers
through willow trees with
leaves glowing a luminous green.
In a sky the color of robin eggs
where billowing clouds form
shapes of circus animals,
a red tailed hawk
floats on updrafts,
testing the force of the wind.
Inhaling April’s scented breath,
where hyacinths and lilies
sprout amid wild grasses.
Spring is earth’s primordial
form of bragging.
A season of precipitous
ends and new beginnings.
