« It’s not day or night,
It’s kind of half night, you know…
But it looks just like this… except for the light,
And I’m scared like I can’t tell you… »
Excerpt from David Lynch’s movie, “Mulholland Drive”

The idea for this series came to me after watching an extract from David Lynch’s film, Mulholland Drive. In this scene, a man invites a friend to a fast-food restaurant to tell him about a nightmare he’s had twice before, and which has haunted him ever since. As he describes it, we understand that he is reliving the dream, wide awake! The acting is incredible, and the viewer feels the character’s deep terror as he decomposes at the thought of reliving the outcome of this bad dream.
My series isn’t about nightmares, but rather about those dreams we call “strange”, being unable to tell them in a very precise, rational or convincing way, because they’re too abstract or evanescent, and all that’s left in the early hours of the morning is a feeling that’s firmly anchored in our stomach.
DREAMS takes us on a dreamlike journey, combining images of dreams and their hosts. As they return to the reality of the new day, these dreamers, imbued with the unreal atmosphere of their dreams will find it hard to shake off the dull emotion that inhabits them.

As a self-taught photographer, I've been experimenting with photography for as long as I can remember. From photographing family events to more elaborate projects, from film to digital, the camera has always been part of the moments in life that it enables me to immortalize. Today, I express my creativity in black & white: a high-contrast black & white, often grainy, with movement, not to say blur, and where the photo appeals by the emotion that emanates from it, more than by its faithful representation of the subject. Nature, flora and fauna, cities too, but increasingly human beings, are at the heart of my work.
