With a growl so loud that wracked my spine,
The pangs of hunger took me through the hallways at night.
The apple catches my eye, a simple fruit – yet a favourite of mine,
White meets crimson with a crunch and whispers of tales as old as time.
With the sky iridescent in pink and peach,
Sauntering across pebbled driveways of the rich,
An eyeful of voluptuous bosoms in corsets too tight,
Satin gowns of cherry and vermillion across the ballrooms glide.
Ambling past shops and carts at the town square,
The aroma of crumbles and tarts wafts through the air,
Shrill laughter, a flash of cashmere and flouncy skirts,
Eluding the gossamer shackles of wicker, apples tumble into speckled dirt.
A memory of toothy grins, cherubic cheeks and echoes of home,
Of Ladon in the garden of Hesperides all alone,
The golden apples of enticement and trickery,
Turned the fearsome guardian into a mockery.
A poisoned apple reaching a maiden so fair,
True love’s kiss and seven dwarves to pair,
Mirror mirror on the wall
Oh, who is the fairest of them all?
Luscious greens and crimson hues combine,
A Utopian garden with boundless trees and shine,
Visions of Adam and Eve and lips of red,
Passion at it’s zenith in the prairies abed,
The Forbidden Fruit entices all ahead.
