If attention is ricochet of absolute devotion,
Then I’ve worshipped you since the end of March
April passed and May has descended ,
I hold on to every breath you’ve spared me
And jot it down to make it last
Knowing attention to every fragment,
Is only ever for what doesn’t last,
To derail the erosion time sets upon fragmentary details
One tends to hold on to timed realities
More than what’s in abundance
Why is it that what’s far often plant roots in our minds?
Why is it that we yearn for what’s never been ours?
I’ve fought to make my timed freedom last longer
Now I’m stretching the limits to papercut bruises,
So that I’ll be reminded of the times
When days catapulted into a lifetime’s worth daydreams
Artists freeze memories in paintings
Writers lock everything before and after
A picture only makes a moment last
But poetry makes many a portraits of every miniscule ripple.
Taking up my time, your thoughts my emporium
Writing is a cheap hobby easy to maintain
I have all the paper and ink
And thoughts that flow but never stops
Now you’ve got my mind infested with biblical sins
Lines blur of what the heart wants and the mind does too
It’s tale as old as time, should feel guilty but i do not
My penance here is that i’m my own guillotine
For wanting what’s never been mine
I’m paying price in this silent humiliation of my self
Stripped naked, yet invisible in a dark echo chamber
I’ll take all this devotion to my grave and let it be my albatross
