At first breath
we begin our race
with that capriciously
ill intentioned
governess of human fate.
With a vision unclouded
by sentiment, Miss
Fortune streaks through many a life
trailing infinitely mutable risks.
A serpent’s malice
in gold cat eyes
peers into worlds
beyond human sight,
where in the hands
of Fortune’s fans
fate’s mischief twirls
most suddenly and feral.
