To whom does poetry belong?
And where does it reside?
Within the hearts of those who love
Or those who’ve ever tried
In souls of grieving mothers
Whose precious child has passed
It lives inside the tired soul
Hoping to the last
It’s in the eyes of children
Listening to a mother’s song
It’s here within our troubles
And when we’ve suffered long
For written in a poem
Spoken as we truly feel
Say it – fear or grief or anguish
There’s a balm to help you heal

I was at the counter in a daze and poured the cereal into the bowl. Sitting there, the forbidden banana, which must be hidden on the bottom. Stunned in horror Robert Frost spung forth proclaiming “Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.” I put it on top, and that has made all the difference. ✌️💕
Sorrow and suffering frame joy and comfort. This is something poetry has helped me learn over the years. Wonderful work.
