Sometimes the middle is a hard place to be
When you’ve come as far as you can go
Where turning back is the same as pushing on
And neither seems a possibility
As breakers surge, and wind howls
As boat seesaws with the sea
As doubts sink hope
A vision terrifying in its possibilities
In that moment, so often he appears
Gliding across the water, leap-frogging waves
Showing the way forward, face to the gale
Suddenly, everything becomes possible.
