I am very drawn to night photography. The act of blending into the darkness and capturing the light and shadow created by artificial lighting requires a different kind of concentration and inspiration than daytime photography, which I find appealing. Over the past few years, I have been working on a number of thematic series, but the works entitled ‘Night Falls’ are not part of a specific project. They are a collection of individual works selected at random from nighttime snapshots taken over the past few years.

However, two of the earlier works in this collection, ‘Barber’s Pole’ and ‘Light on the Wall’, are also part of the ‘Words in Silence’ series I am currently working on.

Asako Naruto is a Japanese photographer based in Spain. After graduating from Musashino Art University with a degree in Design, she studied Spanish Art History at the Graduate School of Nagoya University and has been living in Madrid since 2005. Since around 2020, she has been immersed in the photography. Her work is characterized by introspective expression using street photography techniques.

 She has won many top prizes in international photography competitions and has received more than 50 awards in the last few years.

Her most recent award is first place in the Night Photography category of the Fine Art Photography Awards 2024. She also represented Spain on the jury of the 10th 35 Awards in 2025. She is currently preparing to publish her first book of photographs.
