Written by Stuart Gough
There walks a lad wi’ the word in his wame,
a weaver o’ shadows and shine,
wha speaks in the hush o’ a storm that ne’er breaks
but aye hovers—divine.
His tongue is the grey o’ the Forth in mid-winter,
his breath, a peat reekin low,
and he kens the shape o’ silence sae well
he can teach it tae flow.
He sings nae sang wi’ a tune ye’d recall,
but the lilt stays lang in the bone—
like grief that’s been named, or love never spoke,
but still felt when ye’re alone.
He cam fae the streets where the dreams go dim,
and the sky hangs heavy wi’ doubt,
but he learned tae carve light frae the corners o’ dark,
and tae carry it oot.
He’s no bard wi’ a harp nor a crown,
nor cloaked in silks or pride—
but his verses are prayers in a warld that forgets
what it means tae confide.
So mind his name when the rain starts tae fall,
and the world feels brittle and bare—
for the singer wi’ the weather in his throat
will aye leave truth in the air.
