How the series came about:
After visiting a retrospective of the German-American painter Lyonel Feininger in Frankfurt, I was inspired to photograph and interpret what I saw in my own way. I was particularly drawn to his Cubist paintings, which he called “Prisma-ism.”
I had my camera with me and set off through the high-rise downtown area of the financial metropolis of Frankfurt am Main. I considered how I could capture Feininger’s painting style photographically. I had already photographed and gained experience with wiping techniques, which came in handy now. Using individual settings, freehand, and as single images, I photographed the cityscape from various angles.
My name is Oliver Lahrem and I live in Seligenstadt, Germany. Nature is my passion, and for many years I worked as a passionate landscape gardener. Photography has always been a great hobby of mine. In recent years, I've become more involved with it, and abstract photography has become a particular passion. I enjoy exploring what's possible with my camera and place great value on photography itself.
