Artist Statement: Inspired by the street photographers of the past, especially Helen Levitt, Ruth Orkin, and Dorothea Lange, I seek the fleeting glimpse, that decisive moment, those faces of universal truth. “Street life, and the noir that is forever the soul of New York: that's MY town. Steel and stone, flesh and bone. I shoot with passion. The City is my beat.” Bio: Miriam Danar is an award-winning NYC artist specializing in old-time street, romantic Gotham mood, and extreme-edited cityscapes. Her debut short film of street photography, “Manhattan Montage,” won “Best Short Film” at the Venus Community Awards in Istanbul, Turkey in 2023. It debuted as "Top Music Video" in 2017 at the New York Jazz Film Festival, and later rose to Semi-Finalist in the Short Cut Film Festival in Serbia.
