“Today I will write…”

is a phrase I constantly say.

With intention.

And then I am tired.

And time expires.

And I feel the weight

of the incomplete.

But I will try again.

Today,

I ache to express—

now more than before—

because I think I’m starting to see

differently.

The words collide

to flow

in sentence.

And I don’t fight with them.

If that makes sense.

I am a Mexican-American man

who sells bags

and wants to be an artist.

And no one would believe my mind—

because of the label

they project onto me,

based on the metrics

man gives weight to.

Loneliness feels like a billboard

of a baby in a car seat.

Too small to walk.

Too new to speak.

Too strapped in to escape.

All you can do is stare at the road ahead—

a blur of motion you didn’t choose.

You hold on, hoping someone knows

where they’re going.

That the seatbelt works.

That the chair is at least colorful—

not that sickly gray-beige

that makes silence feel colder.

You sit there.

Powerless.

Present.

Lonely.

That is I.

But still—

you turn your commute into a creative studio,

your mind into a sketchbook,

this space between us into a living journal.

You don’t wait for “ideal conditions.”

You make meaning in motion.

You carve the art out of the day,

not wait for the day to become art.

This is a body of work now.

A mosaic of voice in fragments

that, over time,

will form something whole.

So let’s keep going.
