Written by J. B. Hogan
you would talk me out of it,
talk me down from the ledge
I put myself on, but you didn’t,
instead you chose to call me out,
curse me out, with an anger never
seen before, never imagined was
contained within you, obviously
built up within you, resentments
that I did not know were there,
resentments deep, boiling inside.
I didn’t have any idea they were
there in your gentle soul, your
kind spirit, so I must’ve done
something, many things, that
you hated, that you despised.
I must’ve missed the warning
signs, hints that you were not
okay with me despite the fact
that I had tried to be up front
about our differences, our
conflicts, such as they were,
at least that was what I believed
I was doing, what I considered,
what I thought.
