Life is augmented by treachery
Forcing senses to activate
and defenses to be mounted
Lotus flower blooms, inciting chaotic, hungry riots
Contentment slopes to dithering stagnation
As wrathful fires blaze
Liberties are dissolved systematically
Flicks of a signature from a raging warlord rollback all
the hard-won strides civilization has ever made
Citizens have powers to mobilize
Change stoked
Turn-keys jingle-jangle in locks
Why can’t the lock be forcefully pried open?
Eye sockets bulge, retinae tremble
A perseverating body, seizing from too much stimulation
Sweat somersaulting as emaciated faces cringe and contort
Jagged, skeletal bones can’t strut
There’s no life force, no energy, no constitution
Lets bring shovels to repair
what’s left of the degradation
Society need be issued a blank check
Paid in full for a millennia of suffering
With new-age invention at our forefront
Lotus’s pedals descend
Aching heartbeats slow
Discordant rhythms out-of-time and drive
Unrepentant squalor dims once healthy morale
Musician forced to play with his feet
His scarred, broken hands can’t wield his drumstick
Appendages revolting with dismal geriatrics
We may only just survive
As an incomplete melody plays on
Time’s inevitable hourglass withers
Sands draining from a continuum
No longer vital
