Scary Mary lived in a hut,
by the edge of a wood
with her windows kept shut.
The gate at the back
had a terrible squeak,
and the button to press
so, the caller could speak.
Now Marys cat Ginger
(Who loved to chase mice)
had mischievous thoughts,
and he wasn’t that nice.
He would wait at the fence
for a stranger to call,
then he’d jump out and scare them,
but that wasn’t all.
If you didn’t stroke him
or give him a pet,
the longer he waited
the worse it would get.
He’d tackle your fingers
and bite you quite hard,
then he’d run away laughing
back into his yard.
But Mary was lovely
She’d always say, ‘Hi”.
To the callers, the postmen
or just passers-by.
A smile and a wave
that would make you feel good.
Like your own mothers’ cuddles.
Because she just could.
One day little Jasper,
(for a birthday surprise)
took his bike and went riding
as the sun warmed the skies.
He pedalled so fast
that the wind took his breath,
then he rode off a cliff top
and feel to his death.
