Photographer based in Devizes Wiltshire. As a community I believe we have an important role to play in fostering a deep love for nature and in promoting the essential need to maintain and support nature in the face of many environmental challenges. A healthy, vibrant, rich natural world is fundamental to all our wellbeing. I am committed to using photography to support wildlife conservation through illustrating and communicating the beauty and essential value of nature. I enjoy working with others and helping to illustrate how photography can enhance peoples experience and enjoyment of being immersed in nature. I am drawn to subjects that have inspired me throughout my life. I am eternally curious and fascinated by the perpetual cycles of change exhibited by nature, at all scales. I’m influenced by the cycle of the seasons, the natural growth patterns of plants and animals, and the complex habitats and ecosystems they occur in. I am just as drawn to the dew drops on a butterfly’s wing as I am by the ethereal beauty of a misty woodland. I strive and hope that sometimes I might succeed in adding some artistic content to my pictures. I am particularly inspired by the landscapes and wildlife of my home county of Wiltshire which includes the wonderful open landscapes of the Chalk Downs, Ancient Woodlands and Wildflower Meadows. I often structure my Photography around personal Projects, for example the Pewsey Vale, the Ancient Forest of Savernake, and native wild Orchid species. I have had some success in national and international competitions including having images featured in The International Garden Photographer of the Year, British Wildlife Photography Awards, and the Close up Photographer of the Year. A selection of my images from Savernake Forest has been used in a display at the Science Museum, supporting an exhibition highlighting the importance of ancient woodlands in helping ameliorate the impacts of climate change. Images from Savernake have also recently been exhibited by the Royal Geographical Society and the Forestry Commission. Some of my Orchid images have been exhibited at Kew Gardens in London, as part of the annual International Garden Photographer of the Year exhibition.
