I love taking pictures of old, beat-up shit–what I affectionately refer to as the nitty gritty of life. There is a more artful description for this type of photography: The Wabi-Sabi Aesthetic. It celebrates humble objects, detritus that most people would never look at twice, and if they did, would call it crap.
Me? I stop, focus and take a photo. The history in the cracks and flaws of these subjects reveal a perseverance to rival any hero narrative. Despite long odds, they have survived, and that speaks to something fundamental about our own existence.
Artist Statement As a professional, award-winning fine-art photographer, I capture moments that often escape our attention–whether it’s a bustling street scene, an abandoned shack near a dry lakebed, or a unique perspective through the lens of a drone. My camera acts as a curiosity compass, guiding me toward the subtle, the rustic, and the unexpectedly elegant. Each image is an invitation to slow down, take a second look, and discover the world anew. By exploring a diverse range of subjects and techniques, I hope to spark a sense of wonder and demonstrate that what is often overlooked can hold the most captivation stories.
