i have some broken fibers

once- i witnessed
an exotic dancer in a club
a housewife – coerced onto the stage
intoxicated – dancing in her panties
avocado green with grey elastic –
showing – where the leg hole had been stretched
and torn – it was so lovely and so sad
exploitation and cheap beer – on
industrial boulevard in dallas – “these are the
facts of the case and they are undisputed”

and now

i have some broken grey fibers
torn underwear – i am sober –
but i wish i was intoxicated and far
away – unexploited and innocent
but i fear those days are gone forever
innocence stretched beyond repair –

“these are the facts of the case and they are
undisputed”
