The contemporary world presents itself to us in turmoil, unfolding in jarring and fractured veins. The loss of the reference points in modern times leads to violent ruptures. In my photographic practice, image inversion is the artistic means I use to reveal the agony of modernity and suggest ways of living that are more spiritual and more deeply rooted in diverse realities.

The various compositions in my series sketch possible universes of a new era we call post-modernity. In this renewal, or rebirth, of a world, as the French sociologist Michel Maffesoli put it, everything must be digested anew in a demanding, endless process of renewal and transcendence.

My work on inversion questions new modes of human interaction: our relationship to others, to ourselves and our fears, and to the evolving social being.

This series is a visual metaphor for the ongoing social palingenesis*, as individuals seek to create or recreate their identity in relation to others.
