Photographer Eric Le Brun is the Edge of Humanity Magazine contributor of this documentary photography. From the project ‘Campagne Première’. To see Eric ’s body of work, click on any photograph.
The “Campagne Première” series dates back from the 1990s. It explores a borderless region in Western Europe: the countryside, defined as the antithesis of the urban. It is where farmers, rural laborers and farm animals live. At that time, it was still a place where traditional crafts were practiced, outside the current dominant stranglehold of intensive agriculture. A world of poverty and dignity, in a fragile balance. The image that ties the whole series together is that of a very young foal being warmed by a red lamp, whilst its twin brother has just died.
All the photographs were taken with a film square format camera film.
Eric le Brun trained as an engineer and worked as a sociologist specializing in urban planning at the start of his career before turning to photography. He is now the director of LIGHT MOTIV, an organization based in Lille (France) that is at once a photographic agency, a publishing house and a center for outreach in the field of visual expression.
