These 10 images have all been taken in the last 2 years in and around Antwerp, Los Angeles, Provence, Valencia, New York, and Paris. On the surface these represent a wide range of street, cityscape, architecture, and landscape photography images – both in color and black and white. However, there is another layer of connective tissue here that resonates with me and is an increasing theme in my photography. The images all share compositional elements of geometry, rhythm, simplicity, and human isolation. Hopefully this results in a simplified focus in an otherwise complex canvas.

Artist’s Statement

I have lived a number of photographic lives over the last 50 years, characterized by both changing technologies and changing photographic passions. In recent years my focus has alternated between some landscape photography and considerable urban photography. I am particularly drawn to architectural street photography, which is also referred to as fine art street photography. This hybrid photographic style is characterized by intentional composition, architectural elements, compelling geometry, light and shadow, and a crucial human element. With an extensive background in landscape photography, I prioritize composition and shoot at high resolution to enable large format printing. My post processing is modest and I do not digitally insert elements to the image .For better or worse, I am a photographer, rather than a digital artist.
