Out west, WE the best
The best is the west
The west
Best, best is the
We are
Best
West, west better be
better than these bests
Any better than the best
Can’t be
Can’t rest
The west the west the west is best
The only time I’ve ever crossed the Mississippi a lightning but landed on my chest, beaming
No further than that
These places stuck to tradition against tradition in contrite violent spurts
This dry hot lightning raising hairs
Not the atmosphere
could never get that thick
Dense matters of prospect and discovery never question nor grace any period of negativity nor draw across boundaries
These divides and thin air escapes to scenery or wild heave never quite settle
Dreaming these extremities in centering
A place for artists, a place for escape artists
East, West
Know better than best
know best bestest
Grand, even
Always
Know Best

Mirror, mirror
Who’s the best of the
Left of the rest of the west
Of the condolences to sense
Of this trick
Again
And
Again
The same implements
Of entrepreneurial life
Breathe the need
For these
Similarities or the only
differences found in
Reality
These shards cutting into
Everybody
the facts of matter
Behavior
Personhood
These systemic leans
To universal totality
Another easily shared
Commonality
No matter
how new
See? Slimy
diadems of rhetoric
Everything under the sun
Being known and owned
Being
Personhood
Instead
Of body, flesh, mess
Miserable machines
We must leave
Leave
Mirrors
Colliding together
To see very very far
Or as close as can be
We must know, know best
Know the rest, know all
Know
Everything
Already

Off The Wall

Mechanical puppets from the sky
loosed from their strings
Taking handfuls of words
Or postures, reflexes
Jointed limbs
Curious hideousness
Even arachnids
Could never match this awkward
horror
Collapsing, folding over
Obscuring paths
Of allowance
Who’s quoting who
Who’s left or who’s leaving
The dignity of the dust
We’re all made of
‘Spit to mud’
What’s allowed to be
“Human
Being”
Lists of attributes and qualities
Character bites and drifts
Of words taken apart
phrases
Sudden stories upon stories
any matching circumstance
a skyscraper, erected immediacy
prick by prick
Contortions of space, these puppets
Lean into anyplace they please
Take what caters
From those already starving
Haunt themselves
With their own
Mirrors
Reflect what could be
Left, these glances of
Light through my eyelashes
Frosted over, abysmal horrors
Memories taken apart, taken over
Happenstance commonality
And the oblivion of obviousness
Quit hittin’ yourself
Unfold
Another arm
never meant to move
That way, grasp at any
String, airs, hanging definitives
Minuteness, only the parts
which could never be returned
Or charged
Detail oriented assurances
Of timing and proximity
Clinging to parts of dust
Or frost, echoing self
Assurances
Look what she could know
