The images in my “American Journey” portfolio were chosen because they represent something quintessential about the country’s landscapes. The Snake River at dawn, bison wandering the wide plains in early winter, Canada Geese flying home; these images capture a feeling, the spirit of sacred places.
Several images are from New England, several from western national parks. But even the spinning windmill, taken at a working ranch in California, could have been taken hundreds of years ago.
The places in American Journey have a timeless quality that defies the hand of man.

Artist Statement My focus as a photographer is mostly landscape art. I’ve lived all over America and travel extensively here and abroad to locations I find appealing. I regularly do gallery shows in the LA area as well as international photo competitions to share my art with wider audiences. My images are often called “painterly.” That’s partly because my handling of color and composition is influenced by American and European plein air painters. But I also approach the RAW image as a starting point to a layered approach to post production. This gives the viewer a sense of visual depth that breaks out of the flat 2-D effect of the camera. And allows the eye to journey deeper within the interior space I create.
