Being noble

Rain falls, and seeds rise for everyone
If I say they are mine I can charge you a sum
I can license your movements, or regulate homes
I will sell you back knowledge now hidden
Once known
I charge you to marry, cost you to create
The state may bring charges
So participate
There is cost for connection, and cost to apply
Consider the cost if you barely get by
A cost to survivors of all those who die
So choose an indenture for when you grow up
To consume your existence
To consume more stuff
Subscribe to the ever inadequate bluff
Commodify time at a cost to your mind
Remember that opting out could be a crime
The height of expense won’t afford you to quit
Hierarchy demands that you do your bit
The privilege of paying: a God given right
For the privilege of paying you should proudly fight
We can sell you the system
How soon would you like
For a little more cost
We can ship overnight

Ian from 1982

How many years of your pathway passed

before you realized

that your body is a Time Machine

and You are the traveler

Journeying through

From the day or night of your birth

Until the Machine breaks beyond repair

It’s the secret in plain sight

That others are too distracted to reveal

I wonder how long have you traveled so far

I wonder what ripples your adventures have sent

And if you ever get homesick

Like I do

Secret Handshake

Inside of old buildings

Wrapped in robes and draped in collars

Encircled by symbols that tell quiet stories

Singing poetry and speaking prayers

The noise of knocks

The report of rapping

Offices and hands held

Movements matter

It is important how the hands are linked

Beyond the signs and unwritten work

The source of all ancient miracle and magic

Is just as much community

As any Greater force
