From the project Algae, photographer Eli Basri documents dried algae remaining at the bottom of water reservoirs in Central Israel that were designed to enrich groundwater supplies. As water levels dropped, the algae formed striking shapes resembling cathedrals or tents, transforming the landscape into a scene that appeared otherworldly. Eli Basri presents these environmental observations through images that focus on the unexpected forms created by natural processes within a human-engineered setting.
