Aleksandar Tomulic, a Croatian photographer born in 1967 in Rijeka, has been consistently engaged in photography since 2004, though his connection with the medium began in childhood. With a background in mechanical engineering, Tomulic brings a structural sensibility to his photographic compositions. His preferred subjects include street and coastal motifs, as well as abstract experimentation. Over the years, he has earned numerous international photography honors, including titles from FIAP and IAAP, and he remains an active member of several photography clubs. He also teaches photography through courses and workshops and mentors in the STARTUP Incubator Rijeka.

In this feature for Edge of Humanity Magazine, Tomulic presents a series of street-themed photographs taken in cities such as Barcelona, Rome, Milan, Zagreb, Rijeka, and Opatija. Shot primarily at street level, the images reflect a sharp instinct for capturing the “right moment,” giving each composition a heightened sense of presence. The focus on human figures—through movement and posture—interacts equally with the urban context, creating a balanced narrative between person and place. Geometry, shadows, and reflections dominate the visual language, revealing Tomulic’s signature approach. Rather than highlighting the human figure as central life force, the series subtly emphasizes the fleeting nature of presence within structured cityscapes, allowing viewers to reflect on transience and urban rhythm.
