Photographer Noémie Decaen, a French Japanese artist based in London, blends her multicultural background with a passion for art, photography, and music. Raised in Paris and now living in the UK since 2014, Decaen began her photographic journey focusing on travel and portraiture. Over time, her interest turned to street photography, where she seeks to capture authenticity, humor, beauty, and human connection within public spaces.

This featured selection includes images from Japan, London, Paris, and the End of the Road Festival in Dorset. Of particular note is her Japan series, created during a solo trip in 2024. For Decaen, photography during this time became a vital emotional outlet—especially meaningful as it was her first independent experience in Japan, a place central to her heritage. The resulting photographs convey a delicate tension between familiarity and strangeness, offering viewers an introspective and unconventional lens on the culture.

Her approach is deeply personal and observational, channeling her identity into each frame. Whether documenting city streets or festival crowds, her work emphasizes connection, self-expression, and the often-overlooked details of everyday life.
