Mika Pitkänen’s photo essay ‘Tampere Tram Life’ for Edge of Humanity Magazine captures the everyday experience of the new tram system in Finland’s largest inland city. Launched in August 2021, the tram quickly became a significant part of Tampere’s urban landscape. Mika documents the trams in various driving situations across different seasons, highlighting their role in daily city life. The project was a collaborative effort with his wife Marja, photographing along the new and interesting tram routes. Mika Pitkänen focus on urban scenes and everyday life in Nordic cities. This series combines observational photography with an attention to detail in capturing a new facet of Tampere’s growing city infrastructure.
