The leaders in Beijing understand that if they continue to let the days of protest drag on the people of Hong Kong will not like how the disruption is affecting their pocketbooks. Chinese President Xi Jinping and the communist party leaders of Beijing are holding firm and following the Confucius philosophy of patience to allow the protesters and residents of Hong Kong to tire out. The Hong Kong people thrive on business and making money and as long as the protesters are in the street, the city is not running normally and business will suffer. Democracy is important, but the residents of are finding out that there is a financial cost and inconvenience of closing down the city for an extended period of time.
