This is the story of Igor, a magician and fakir.
I saw Igor for the first time in December 2012, in a small circus. He was the attraction that struck me most and brought me back to when I was a kid, when I was enchanted and, at the same time, afraid of those mysterious characters “fire eaters” who, after their numbers of great charm, disappeared behind the curtain, devoured by darkness.
Intrigued, I searched and spent time with Igor.
I met a person, who was simple and unusual at the same time, with a troubled past and a desire to talk about himself.
And this is how this project about Igor was born.
Today I want to thank him for his time and goodness.
Igor was born on December 23, 1966 in Varese, Italy. He is a magician, an illusionist, a fakir.
He started to do shows at the age of five in a circus.
At the age of fifteen/sixteen he was already living alone with a boy whom he did shows with.
From the age of nineteen until he was thirty one years old Igor hang out with a boy who beat him.
His mother died in 2006 and his father hanged himself in the garden two years after, for the desperate lack of his wife.
Igor has undergone several surgeries including the removal of a cavernous angioma in the brain, in 1986, the removal of nine lymph nodes in the groin and in 2013 he was hospitalized for severe rectal bleeding.
Today Igor takes ten pills in the morning and three in the evening.
He has reduced the number of shows and takes care of his animals, especially the 4 Chihuahuas Tatino, Venus, Zac and Jemy.
Since 1998 Igor lives with his current partner Luca, who is seven years younger, and who is often abroad for business.
