We are Neukölln – diversity in portraits

Neukölln is the district of Berlin, which in recent years has experienced the biggest change. Previously it was considered a problem district in which no one wanted to live, but in recent years it has become the trendiest district of Berlin.

In the photo series “We are Neukölln”, the photographer Katharina Fitz portrays shop owners along ‘Karl-Marx-Street’ in Berlin, one of the most diverse streets of the city, to show the beauty of diversity of Neukölln. Because of the fast changes of the district within the last years, it is concerned with a progressive displacement of long-established business owners.

The photo series gives the multicultural identity of Neukölln a face.
