A Days Pay portfolio is about undocumented immigrants living and working in New York. Many of the men are fathers in Mexico. Their families depend on monthly remittances for basic expenses. In the United States, these fathers become day laborers or jornaleros in Spanish.  Since they are contracted day to day, they are expendable. Because of their need to survive and provide for their families they are also dependable and hard working. They arrive week day mornings and sometimes linger nearby on weekends, to known sites where they will meet contractors and negotiate a day’s pay.
