“The Way Of Looking In Strategy”

Excerpt

“Your look must be broad and ample. Looking and seeing are two different things. Look powerfully, see gently. It is necessary to look at  what is distant as something that is close and what is close as something that is distant-this is essential for strategy.”

(Page 153)

Hermit Poet’s Comments: Strategy changes according to the interaction. Studying the big picture is as important as the fine points. What does the other side want from the negotiation? Watch and listen carefully. During a negotiation, many times people give off verbal and body language signals that show their true wants. Lastly, do not think just short term; because it is best to continue to do business with the other side many more times in the future.
