Is sincerity a good quality in today’s society?
“Do I look fat in these jeans?” is inconsequential.
“What she don’t know won’t hurt her” is humiliating.
Between the inconsequential and the humiliating, seats the intricacies of life; the decision to be sincere or to hold back.
Sincerity with self is irreplaceable. With the people close to us is necessary in order to create real relationships. Speaking the mind can prove difficult (socially) for the ones unable to deviate from only expressing the truth. But as we expand our social tentacles, sincerity must be tailored in order to navigate the many personalities we encounter during our daily routines without intentionally trying to portray an alternative truth to who we really are.
